Dr. Napoleone Ferrara is an internationally renowned scientist, visionary, and innovator in biotech whose transformative research on angiogenesis regulation has reshaped cancer therapy and ophthalmology. His groundbreaking work on vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) led to the development of Bevacizumab, the first FDA-approved anti-VEGF monoclonal antibody for cancer treatment, now widely used across multiple tumor types. He also spearheaded the development of Ranibizumab, an FDA-approved therapy that revolutionized the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration and other intraocular disorders, benefiting millions of patients worldwide.
Dr. Ferrara’s career in biotech spans academia, industry, and entrepreneurship, providing him with a multifaceted perspective. At the University of California San Diego, he serves as Distinguished Professor of Pathology and Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology and Pharmacology, driving innovation in angiogenesis and therapeutic research. Dan Maneval, Ph.D.
Dan Maneval - Senior Leader
Dr. Maneval is a biopharmaceutical consultant with expertise in pre-clinical and early clinical development of novel therapies for cancer. His career began at Genentech where played a key role in introducing HERCEPTIN® into clinical trials. He then joined Canji, an early-stage gene therapy company, where he was instrumental in the company’s acquisition by Schering-Plough. At Schering-Plough, he had roles of increasing responsibility and led the early development of several adenovirus gene therapy programs, from which emerged a newly approved gene therapy for bladder cancer, ADSTILADRIN®.Â
Dr. Maneval served as Vice President for Research and Nonclinical Development at Halozyme Therapeutics for nearly a decade, where he played a significant role in the development of FDA approved products (e.g., HYQVIA®, HYCELA®, HYLECTA®) with the company’s ENHANZE® drug delivery technology, and in the development of its pegylated PH20 program for pancreatic cancer. Maneval was key to the success of the Halozyme/Baxter presentation at the FDA Blood Products Advisory Committee (BPAC) meeting for HYQVIA® (subcutaneous IgG).
Dr. Maneval holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California (David Z. D’Argenio: Advisor), and he completed postdoctoral training at the University of Tennessee and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Dr. Maneval has co-authored more than 50 scientific publications and is a co-inventor on 14 patents.

Kyle Chan - Senior Leader
Dr. Kyle Chan is a renowned biotechnology executive, entrepreneur, and consultant with over three decades of experience spanning drug discovery, development, and clinical trials. As the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of NovoMedix, he leads efforts to develop groundbreaking small molecule therapies addressing critical unmet needs in cancer, fibrosis, and inflammatory diseases. Previously, Dr. Chan co-founded BioTheryX, where he advanced targeted protein degradation therapeutics and successfully guided the company’s lead compound from preclinical studies into clinical trials.
Dr. Chan’s background includes leading discovery research at Celgene, where he directed innovative programs in genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics. He built and led the bioinformatics/computational biology group at Celgene from the ground up, leveraging his computer science background, where he developed software interfaces for scientific instruments. His contributions to Celgene included developing small molecule modulators with transformative potential across multiple disease areas. Beyond his scientific expertise, Dr. Chan has played a key role in building and financing biotech startups, utilizing both dilutive and non-dilutive funding strategies, and holds over 30 U.S. patents for his contributions to therapeutic innovation.

Jeff Gerardi – Senior Consultant
Jeff Gerardi is the director of strategy for preconstruction technology at Autodesk. In his role at Autodesk, Jeff oversees the vision and strategy of Autodesk’s preconstruction portfolio of products. He is involved in the development, marketing and driving the success of these products.
Prior to Autodesk, Jeff founded ProEst Estimating which was acquired by Autodesk in late 2021. Under Jeff’s leadership, ProEst grew into a thriving, cutting edge SAAS technology firm that served thousands of contractors across the globe with offices in the US, Australia and Canada. Born into a family of business owners, Jeff has long had an entrepreneurial spirit which helped this company’s growth and success.
